The cogs begin to turn once again – Why I quit Calculus class and return to you now at the turning of the tide.

If anyone was really reading this stuff, they might be wondering where we went. Why the machine came to a dead stop.

I got this sick idea in my head awhile back that I wanted to go to business school. The idea was based around the fact that I believed I had the creativity to do great things but not the business sense (something I still believe). Unfortunately, the MBA program I want to take has a Calculus prerequisite. So I decided that I would try o force both Calculus AND the required Algebra prereq down my gullet over the summer. Well, the Algebra damn near killed me. Every night, class. Every other waking moment, work or math homework. It was terrible.

I got three classes into Calculus and thought to myself, “What the hell am I doing?” After being sick with stress for a month and narrowly escaping Algebra, I was going to do it again but with a brand of mathematics not designed to maim or pacify, but to destroy. No. No fucking way. Not again. Not like this anyway…

The MBA is still something that I will conquer but it will be done on my own terms. The Calculus class can be taken during a regular semester (not this intense, every day, advanced version). More importantly, this will allow me to do what I love…

This shit.

I miss writing. I miss the stories, the ranting and raving, all of it. It might not be something I’m very good at it, but goddammit, I enjoy the hell out of it.

And I don’t mean I’m just returning to blog posting. I realized that if I had applied the same amount of time to these math classes as I would have to writing, I would have been done with something. A manuscript, screenplay, or whatever. It would have been done. That’s more than I can say for 99.9% of my projects. So now it’s time to focus. Now’s the time to get back to doing with I think I’m best at and it’s time to start getting things done.

Stay tuned for some updates soon. I need to formulate a strategy for all the balls I have in the air (teehee… balls).

Love, your idiot pal,

-Dave
